Jordan Ayew might just set the English Football League Championship alight. Well, that’s if he’s going to bother with putting the effort in.

With Ayew, it’s always a case of extremes. He’s either doing nothing, or everything. He’s either banging insane goals in from out of nowhere, or he’s playing as if it’s a pub game.

Consistency will give the Ghanian striker a solid return of goals this year. Anything else will ensure he remains bang average and at times, a liability. We need less mad elbows, yellow cards and on-pitch tantrums and more magic from Ayew.

Jordan shouldn’t be playing in the Championship. He’s got the goods to be playing in European competitions with top sides. He’s taken a massive step towards maturity by agreeing to stay at Villa whilst they compete in the doldrums of English football, let’s see his game step up a notch.

It’s time to prove there’s more to you than the odd flash of skill and a temper, Jordan. You might just blow this league apart.
