As is usual fare for Villa these days, Dr Tony Xia dropped a hint on Twitter before Aston Villa revealed an official announcement.
Will announce the attacking midfielder very soon. @AVFCOfficial #UTV

Many had suspected Ravel Morrison to be the ‘attacking midfielder’ Xia has previously mentioned, but the former Hammer falls short of the personality criteria that Xia has stated would be a part of any scouting going forward.

Instead, that man is Albert Adomah, who has reportedly signed a three-year deal at Villa despite a new contract offer coming in from his current clubs Middlesbrough. Adomah has been a bit hit and miss for ‘Boro, but he won’t be relied on too hard at Villa, who can lean on Jordan Ayew, Rudy Gestede, Ross McCormack and Jonathan Kodjia for goals.
Interestingly enough, Adomah is Villa’s 9th signing of the current window and is the 5th who has previously won promotion. There’s a clear format for future signings then.
Also, Adomah played with Villa’s new right-back, Ritchie De Laet at Middlesbrough and also plays with Jordan Ayew for Ghana at an international level.

Adomah is a fantastic signing for Villa’s depth and can offer some solid back-up and a bench option we’ve been crying out for. Welcome, Albert!
