Today's issue of The Sun is reporting that Micah Richards is set to head to West Ham United on a temporary basis.
Another loan, then.
Micah Richards has endured a terrible spell at Aston Villa and was blamed (rightly and wrongly) for a series of games that Aston Villa lost last season. After joining Villa, Richards was deployed as a centre-back, but quickly showed that he lacked the patience and poise required to hold a line against the best forwards in the Premier League. It's accurate to say that he played the position as though he was a right wing-back!
I did enjoy some of his galloping forwards runs, though.
This move is actually of some concern to a Villa team that is now seriously lacking in defensive depth. West Ham have taken not just a right-back from Villa, but a centre-back as well. Despite some fans applauding the removal of the 'dead wood', Villa are an injury crisis away from absolute disaster.
That being said, it is deadline day. Expect something!
Here's some other deadline day reads from 7500toHolte:
- Are Aston Villa making the same mistakes as last year?
- Aston Villa's transfer outlay could be brilliant or disastrous, and we don't really know!
- Villa are losing Adama but gaining Adomah!
