The deal is expected to cost Villa, and owner - Dr Tony Xia, around £15 million. Edit: Bristol City disclosed that the sum paid to them is an initial £11 million which could rise to £15 million. There is also a sell-on clause.

The Ivorian striker had a fantastic season last year in the Championship, netting 19 goals in 45 games for ‘The Robins’. Bristol’s owner noted that he would not be selling Kodjia to a fellow Championship side, but it looks like that statement has fallen flat.
Kodjia has also scored 1 goal in 2 appearances for Côte d'Ivoire.
This means that with Rudy Gestede, Ross McCormack and Jonathan Kodjia - Villa have assembled a ‘Championship Hall of Fame’ with the three strikers netting around sixty goals between them. That’s serious, proven firepower.
Aston Villa are just the club to ruin their careers, then!
The future of Jordan Ayew is still unknown, but if Villa can hold onto him, they might just mean business this year!
