Aston Villa: The ones to watch

Our pre-season roundtable, part three

We're now halfway through the week before it all kicks off, how exciting! Today we take a look at Aston Villa's players, and who brings what to the table.

Who will be Aston Villa’s top goalscorer this season?

Herbert: Jordan Ayew

Jack: Jordan Ayew (if he stays, otherwise Rudy Gestede)

Alex: Unless Villa make moves, it’s Jordan Ayew. I still don’t think the delivery’s going to be quite of the quality for Rudy Gestede to thrive.

Matt Villan: Gabriel Agbonlahor

Bennett: Jordan Ayew.

Matt F: Jordan Ayew

James: Rudy Gestede has a strong shout!

Adam: Gabby Agbon....haha no. Some unnamed great signing, and if not Rudy Gestede. You don't need to be able to control the ball in the Championship, right?

Robert: Jordan Ayew. Oh god, we don't really have a goal machine do we?

Elis: Eh, Jordan Ayew, probably.

Who will supply the assists for Villa this season?

Herbert: Gary Gardner

Jack: Jordan Amavi (if he stays, otherwise Joe Bennett/Jack Grealish)

Alex: This kinda needs to be Jack Grealish, right? The club aren’t really flush with playmakers, and the answer to this shouldn’t be your left back.

Matt Villan: Gabriel Agbonlahor

Bennett: That's a fine question. Amavi, maybe Grealish, or a player that's yet to be signed.

Matt F: Jack Grealish

James: I believe Jordan Ayew has a chance if he plays 'in the hole'. Andre Green, Grealish and Westwood could also heavily contribute.

Adam: Time for Jack Grealish to pull up his literal and metaphorical socks.

Robert: Jordan Amavi. And if this comes true, the answer to top scorer may be Gestede.

Elis: Leandro Bacuna. Fight me.

Who is your Aston Villa player to watch this season?

Herbert: Aaron Tshibola

Jack: Gary Gardner

Alex: I really think Ashley Westwood could boss this division if he’s a regular in the XI, so I guess him?

Matt Villan: Gabriel Agbonlahor

Bennett: Andre Green is the obvious pick, but I'll go with Tshibola just to be contrarian.

Matt F: Aaron Tshibola

James: Jack Grealish, it's time for him to step up to the plate. He's ran rings around players this pre-season and looks to be full of confidence.

Adam: Really looking forward to having a leader in Tommy Elphick.

Robert: Pierluigi Gollini. After a disastrous season from our keepers last year, can he turn things around and make us confident again?

Elis: Jack Grealish. Have we really seen what he has the potential to do? Hopefully no, and hopefully we'll start to see it this year.
