I’ve come to a conclusion early in this season: football is fun again. I mean, it’s tough to follow Villa, but what we get to hear and see is thrilling, the team is getting results, and we can actually expect a few goals here and there. Plus for all of its second-tier status, the Championship is just more wild and unpredictable, and that leads to it being more fun, too.
But at the same time, it’s a pretty madcap pace. After today Aston Villa will have already played six matches in twenty days. So it’s sort of relieving to know that after the trip to Bristol City we all get to catch our breaths a bit during the international break. (Plus, as a writer, I am SO thankful that we don’t have to cover matches while the transfer window closes).
So today is a nice little breaking point. The first month has been a blast. It’s been a roller coaster. And now we get to catch our breaths. So let’s enjoy one last match and head into the break with a win to cap it all off.
