Villa appeared to be on the way to victory as Tuesday's match against Huddersfield Town itched towards a close. Having kept a clean sheet Saturday against Rotherham, the new defensive partnership of James Chester and Tommy Elphick looked to make it two clean sheets in a row. Despite being put under considerable pressure by Huddersfield in the second half, Pierluigi Gollini was in fine form for much of the match, stopping repeated one-on-ones to keep Villa ahead.
Then, disaster struck, as a long ball forward sailed over all outfield players. James Chester motioned for Gollini to come out and clear his lines, which he attempted to do. However, his clearance rebounded directly off the back of Michael Hefele and into Villa's net.

Hopefully this will be a result Villa can recover from; if the first half of tonight's match was any indication, this squad has a lot of season as the season goes forward.
