This is stupid. Grade A stupidity and I cannot believe it at all, but James Nursey of The Mirror is reporting that Villa are set to sell Ashley Westwood to Premier League outfit Burnley in order to fund their raid on Crystal Palace for Mile Jedinak.
I feel this sale is particulary worrying. Aston Villa’s midfield is shockingly thin right now with Gary Gardner in a poor run of form, the absence of Jordan Veretout and the removal of Carlos Sanchez and Idrissa Gana. Getting rid of Ashley Westwood simply creates an issue. Let’s lay it out:
Villa need a new midfielder right away. That midfielder is Mile Jedinak. To get Mile Jedinak, Villa will sell a midfielder. This leaves them still needing a midfielder!
I’d be happy if Westwood leaves, but he’s not Villa’s worst performer right now. The fact that he leaves our midfield ranks weak and is possibly our best midfielder means I’ll be tearing my hair out if he leaves for anything less than £10 million. In today’s market, Burnley can afford that.
I’m already SO done with this transfer window.
