With Idrissa Gana Gueye on his way out from Aston Villa, naturally there is some cause for concern in regard to the squad.

Fortunately for Villa fans, some of the worrying can be eased by news that Jordan Ayew will be sticking around. Today, manager Roberto Di Matteo announced that the Ghana international will not be leaving the club in a press conference.

"Jordan Ayew is going to be part of our plans and is going to stay here. His qualities will shine," said Di Matteo.

The audio was posted by BBC West Midlands Sport on Twitter, and you can listen to it right here:

Should Ayew end up leaving the club, Villa would need help at striker. Just a week ahead of the first match of the Championship campaign, this would be very problematic. Ayew is likely to be Villa’s top scorer this season, and could even lead the league if things go well.
