The takeover of Aston Villa is officially complete

It's finally over!

Aston Villa have confirmed that the takeover of the club by Dr. Tony Xia and the Recon Group is officially complete today.

Xia met with Football League officials in London yesterday to agree the deal, having passed the owner and directors' tests required by the Premier League and Football League.

This paves the way for the summer of change for Aston Villa, with Roberto Di Matteo and Steve Clarke set to to lead the club into the future.

The BBC reported on Saturday that the final value of the takeover is £76 million, with £52m as the outright purchase and £24m available as an overdraft.

It's also understood that there will be a transfer budget of £35 million this window, plus whatever additional money can be raised in player sales.

The team will have a training trip to Austria from July 9-14 before a series of pre-season fixtures including a trip to France against FC Nantes on July 23. But the focus is on Di Matteo assessing his squad before the start of the Championship season.
