Villa are days away from choosing a new manager and all signs point to Roberto Di Matteo
After a number of months, Di Matteo will be likely be the man to finally succeed Remi Garde as the Aston Villa manager, the Birmingham Mail announced today. Likely chosen by Tony Xia and appointed via the proxy of Steve Hollis.
'Discussions are said to have gone well and the Italian is expected to be offered the job in the coming days.' - The Birmingham Mail
Roberto Di Matteo is expected to be announced as Villa's new manager in the next 72 hours with Nigel Pearson heading towards Derby County (It's likely that a vice-versa move could have taken place if Pearson went to Villa). Both managers have a strong pedigree in English football, yet Di Matteo seems more of an unknown quantity than Leicester's former boss.
Di Matteo previously held roles at Schalke, West Bromwich Albion and MK Dons. See what our own MattVillan had to say about Di Matteo here.
