Villa starlet gets England call up for summer tournament

Jack Grealish will join up with Gareth Southgate's team in the summer

Jack Grealish will finally make his debut for England on the international stage, but not in the way many expected.

He's heading to a summer tournament to play for the Three Lions, but no - not that one. Jack has been called up to Gareth Southgate's England Under Twenty-One team for this summer's Toulon Tournament (or Annual French Invitational).

This is a great sign for the youngster, who shot any hope of returning to Republic of Ireland fold in the foot when he pledged his future to England. Even though Jack was born and spent most of his life in Birmingham, he shares a trait that many of us living in Brum with Irish heritage have and that's full-blooded Irish relatives who know how to bring the spirit of the Emerald Isle over the Irish Sea. Jack's choice annoyed many and his lack of appearances for England have resulted in hilarity for those who follow the ROI's international team - that being said, this call-up is a good sign for Grealish's international future.

No other Villa players have been called up to the U21 team.

Good luck Jack!
