Aston Villa have today announced the appointment of lifelong Villa fan, Lord Mervyn King to the board of directors at Villa Park.
As reported by the BBC, the 67 year old Lord Mervyn who had guided the Bank of England through the recession will join Steve Hollis and Tom Fox in leading Aston Villa forward.
King watched his first Villa match 55 years ago and will more than likely be hurting, as are many Villa fans, at the plight of the club in recent years. What matters more than Mervyn's experience, is his history of support.
"I shall do my best to help the rebuilding of Aston Villa Football Club as together we return it to its position as one of the top clubs in the world."
Whilst a large proportion of Villa fans have lost confidence in the leadership of Tom Fox and Steve Hollis, the appointment of Mervyn King is a huge step in the right direction. Whilst King may have deeper pockets than most, he's claret & blue at heart and that's what really matters.
