Sitting rock bottom of the Premier League, you can't blame Remi Garde for contacting his old boss to ask for a hand.In fact, Garde can be applauded for reaching out to Arsene Wenger in an attempt to upgrade the Villa squad during the January transfer window.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Remi Garde confirmed his own interest in bringing the French right-back to Aston Villa.

"I had a conversation with Arsene a few days ago about some of the players, and Mathieu Debuchy was among these players." - Garde during his pre-Wycombe press conference.

Debuchy is a realistic loan target for Aston Villa, having only played in seven matches for the Gunners and will want some more time on the field ahead of Euro 2016. Mathieu Debuchy also represents a near 100% upgrade at the right-back position for Aston Villa (you can read about the flaws of Alan Hutton in our tactical report here) and also, like the return of Aly Cissokho adds a drop of depth to Villa's back four.

What do you think? Does Hutton need replacing? Let us know below!
