Aston Villa have submitted their final 25-man squad for the first half of the 2015-16 season to the Premier League today. In addition to the surprise of seeing Liverpool loanee Tiago Ilori given the number 2 kit, we also get to find out that new signing Jolean Lescott will wear the number 16 kit. Aside from that, there isn't too much squad number news in the list since Villa announced the bulk of those back in early August.
Instead, we get to find out who didn't make the squad. And despite Charles N'Zogbia's bizarre twitter antics, he survived the axe. Instead it was Philippe Senderos who was left off on the sidelines. In all likelihood this means that he'll see a loan out somewhere soon, as having him around doing nothing helps nobody.
Unfortunately for Senderos, the move is likely more due to the club's depth at centre back than any deficiency in his playing. He may not light the world on fire, but he's perfectly capable depth. I honestly thought he'd get the nod ahead of N'Zogbia, but it appears that the Swiss was a victim of depth.
Here, if you want it, is the full 25-man list as well as registered U21 players. Villa can play with this come the January transfer window, but for now this is what they've got.
