Robert's Note: The Villa Rockets Powerchair Football Club have begun their 2015-16 season! They played their first two matches on September 12, and their next two on the following day. You may remember the Rockets from our fundraiser during the week of the FA Cup final, but if you'd like to learn more, look here. I've invited the team to send us match reports for this site if they'd like, and we've got the first batch of the season. They come courtesy of Andy Bode. I'll let him take it from here:

This weekend saw the start of the 2015/16 WFA National Premiership with Villa Rockets involved in 4 games. The team had 3 wins and a draw keeping a clean sheet throughout. The Rockets finished the weekend with 10 points and sit fourth in the league after the first round of fixtures.

Match Reports:

TWO GOAL LUCA IN DREAM DEBUT!

Villa Rockets opened their season in style with a 3-0 win over Northern Thunder Blues. An early goal from Bubba led to a dominant first half from the Rockets however strong defending by Blues kept the score at 1-0 at half time.

The second half saw the debut of Luca who made an instant impact with a goal after 2 minutes. Villa continued to press and we're rewarded with a third when Luca claimed his second of the match. Blues continued to battle well and despite Villa pressure contained the Villa forwards as the game finished 3-0.

LUCA'S WINNER SINKS THE BAGGIES!

Villa Rockets took the three points in the first Birmingham derby of the season with a 1-0 win over rivals Sporting Albion Throstles. Luca continued where he left off in the previous match with the only goal of the match after only three minutes. The match saw Villa dominant throughout and only good defending and the lack of a final touch in front of goal prevented Rockets from adding to their tally.

MAX GUNS DOWN THE BULLETS!

The third game of the weekend saw Rockets clinch a 1-0 win over Bolton Bullets with a last minute winner from Max. As expected, Bolton provided stiff opposition with their battling style and organization making them difficult to break down. Again Villa dominated the first half but poor finishing and good goalkeeping kept the game goalless at half time.

GRITTY EVERTON FRUSTRATE ROCKETS!

A battling defensive rearguard from Everton prevented Villa from achieving a maximum haul of points after the first weekends league fixtures. A game of very few chances as both sides cancelled each other out with perhaps Villa having the edge but unable to breach the Everton defensive as the game finished goalless

Squad for the Weekend Fixtures:

Nicky Baker, Amir Ali (Bubba), Max Bode, Jon Morley and Luca Wickens
