Villa look set to miss out on Roma forward thanks to Inter swoop

Despite previous links in this transfer window, Adem Ljajić looks set to move to Inter Milan

We should have known it was too good to be true. AS Roma forward Adem Ljajić had been linked with Aston Villa multiple times over the past month, but a move still seemed unlikely. Maybe because he's played almost his whole career in Italy's Serie A, or maybe I'm used to the old Aston Villa and the 23-year-old Serbian is a very exciting player.

Ljajić moved to Roma from Fiorentina two years ago for €11 million, and Sky Italia report that he will join Inter on loan for a fee of €2 million, with a mandatory €9 million purchase option included. From the look of it, even Roma fans are upset with this, as we see on our SB Nation sister site Chisea Di Totti.

The gaping hole left by Christian Benteke is becoming more and more apparent with each passing game, but it's unclear if manager Tim Sherwood will do any more business in the next day or so. If he will, he's going to have to look elsewhere.

Are you sad that Villa missed out on Ljajić? What areas of the squad still need strengthening before the transfer window slams shut? Let us know in the comments!
