Earlier today, the Birmingham Mail reported that Villa youngster Riccardo Calder was likely to join Scottish side Dundee F.C. on loan. The club later confirmed his departure.

The loan will last until January, when the deal will be reviewed and could be extended to a season-long move. Calder, 19, made a solid impression in Villa's pre-season trip to Portugal, and continued his form back with the U-21 side, appearing in all three of the squad's games this season. He's extremely versatile, playing all across the midfield and chipping in defensively at full-back.
With Villa's midfield crowded as it is, Calder likely wouldn't have gotten much of a chance to feature in the first-squad. Playing senior football in Scotland should challenge Calder more than U-21 games. Hopefully, he'll receive a good look with the first-team and return to Villa a more experienced player.
