Multiple reports are saying that Barcelona winger Adama Traore has passed his medical at Aston Villa and is set to complete his transfer to the club tomorrow. The only problem in all of this is that the reports are from the Star and the Mail, and neither of them seem to know much of anything. I'm only putting stock in this because I've seen reports from the Spanish press saying the same thing today, so I guess that should count for something.
Intuitively, if there is this much gossip at this advanced of a stage, we have to think that something is happening. But again, the reported fee is making me deeply suspicious of reporting from the English press. The Star are saying £7 million, the Mail are saying £12 million, and both of those conflict with earlier reports from Barcelona's sporting director that the fee was somewhere around €6 million.
So who the heck knows what's going on here? I'd be willing to go to a bookie right now and place money on this happening, but I have no idea for how much or when. And there is the small chance (or large, given that it's the Star and Mail) that this is all made up and Aston Villa are actually still looking for the final eight French Jordan's they need to complete their collection. French Jordans: they're like Panini stickers, but real!
