According to a report in today's Metro, Tim Sherwood's recent statement of only domestic transfers for the remainder of the transfer window may be inaccurate. Belgian midfielder Dennis Praet has been linked with a move to Villa sporadically throughout the summer, and lack of recent reports suggested that Villa's interest was temporarily stalled, but that may have changed.
Having already introduced nine players to the Villa ranks this summer, the general perception amongst many fans was that most of Villa's major spending was finished. Praet's previous price tag was thought to be in the £10 million range, with the player not entirely convinced that a move away from Belgium was in his best interest, but reports suggest that Praet has changed his mind and is adamant about moving to a bigger club.
Additionally, to make matters more appealing, Praet's desire for a departure means that his reported price tag has dropped from £10 million to £7 million, making it an even more intriguing prospect for Sherwood. Praet has potential to be an international star, and he would become the third new centre mid signing of the summer, following in the footstep of Idrissa Gueye and Jordan Veretout. Praet has much more to offer going forward, and his addition would mean that Villa have a very deep midfield corps.
