Belgian club Anderlecht are reportedly willing to sell another one of their key contributors - having already lost striker Aleksander to Newcastle, they are also on the verge of losing another key player in Chancel Mbeba. The pair will net Anderlecht over £20 million, but the club appears ready to continue their selling spree. Another one of Anderlecht's young and promising talents is midfielder Dennis Praet, a player linked to Villa in previous weeks.
Reports from Belgium communicate that Praet will be made available for £10 million, a price tag Villa are now capable of meeting following the big-money departures of Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph. While Tim Sherwood has already splashed out almost £20 million on new signings Idrissa Gueye and Jordan Amavi, because of Delph, Benteke, and other departures including the likes of Andi Weimann, Shay Given, and Matt Lowton, there are still significant funds available for Sherwood to spend - making Praet a real possibility. Praet seems dead set on leaving this summer, and similarly to Gueye and Amavi, appears to be desiring a move to the English top flight.
Praet is very positionally diverse, similar to Carles Gil in the ability to create coupled with the ability to play multiple positions. Whereas Carles Gil cannot be deployed in centre midfield for Tim Sherwood, it appear that Praet would be able to man such a role very competently, while still being able to flex his creativity going forward.
It remains to be seen if a new out-and-out striker will be coming to Villa Park this summer, but Praet appears to be a shrewd move, following in the mold of young players with incredible potential Tim Sherwood has already brought in - talent which Sherwood thinks he can shape expertly.
