Villa fan pranks Benteke agent with phone call

An Aston Villa fan tricked Christian Benteke's agent into revealing the striker is trying to force a move.

In the weeks leading up to the awful game that will not be named, it became increasingly likely that Christian Benteke would be leaving Aston Villa this summer. The Belgian striker said he was happy playing for the Claret and Blue. After Tim Sherwood replaced Paul Lambert, Benteke caught fire.

Almost singlehandedly keeping Villa afloat, Benteke deserved a new contract -- at least in the eyes of Sherwood. And he had every intention of offering the forward a new deal this summer.

However, the player won't sign it. He will do everything to force a move to a bigger club. He likes Villa. It's just that they can't offer European football, and Benteke wants to be playing at a higher level.

According to the Daily Mail, Benteke's agent Kismet Eris was tricked into revealing this information in a phone call with a fan impersonating a 'top level boss.' The video in the Mail article shows a man, known on Facebook as Ty TeeBee Bracey, talking on speakerphone with a man he keeps calling 'Kismet.' The video makes the phone call seem more legit, although we don't see and hear the beginning of the phone call.

We already hate Benteke's agent for trying to force a move in the summer of 2013. But if he revealed this information to a fan? That's disappointing. On the plus side, it looks like the release clause is £32.5 million. Even if Benteke leaves, it will be for more than four times as much as Villa paid. Oh, and his goals kept the club in the Premier League twice.

Do you think Villa should sell Benteke to help rebuild the team? Let us know in the comments!
