Shortly after Villa's dramatic win over Everton on Saturday, Villa manager Tim Sherwood faced the press regarding his star man in midfield, Fabian Delph.
Delph, 25, has been re-born under Sherwood, and has become the undisputed leader of Sherwood's Villa. Offering both creativity going forward and reliability in defense, Delph is quickly fulfilling the potential that Villa fans saw from him upon his arrival from Leeds in 2009.
Delph assisted Benteke's first goal on Saturday afternoon, and was in total control of the midfield. He scored the opener in the FA Cup quarterfinal, and scored the all important winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup semifinal.
Following Delph's magnificent display on Saturday afternoon, Sherwood went so far as to say:
"I mean, I'm not going to go over the top here, but there ain't a better midfield player in the country at the moment than Fabian Delph."
"He's got everything. He moves it really well, he's got trickery, he bursts through holes with the ball, he runs with it, there's everything to his game, and he can score."
Delph's play of late has been nothing short of extraordinary, and hopefully he can keep it up for Villa's remaining Premier League games, and the FA Cup final.
