Arsenal's Danny Welbeck will miss FA Cup final against Aston Villa

Take a moment and think back to September. Aston Villa had just beaten Liverpool at Anfield and sat in second place in the Premier League after four matches. They had a fixture against Arsenal at Villa Park and the Gunners were coming off of three straight league draws. The world was so green then, and filled with hope.

And then 32', 34', 36'. Özil, Welbeck, Cissokho (og). Arsenal scored a trio in a matter of minutes and Villa wouldn't win again until December. The whole season came crashing down and it was (at least partially) Danny Welbeck's fault.

Well, in a bit of karmic retribution, Welbeck will not be available to tarnish the one good moment this season ended up having, as a knee injury will keep the striker out of Saturday's FA Cup final at Wembley. Arsène Wenger will have to make due without the England international and Villa fans can rest just a bit more easily. Sure, he wasn't Arsenal's best player this year (or really anywhere close to it, honestly), but giving Wenger fewer choices can only be good news for Villa. Especially when one of those choices has scored 12.5% of the Gunners goals against the claret and blue this year.
