Should Aston Villa look to buy anyone from Sunderland?

With Sunderland still on the brink of relegation, let's take a look at their squad and see if there are any players that Aston Villa should poach.

With two matches left, Sunderland just need to pick up two points to ensure Premier League survival. But Gus Poyet Dick Advocaat's men are playing Arsenal and Chelsea, so it won't be easy. Unbeaten in their last four (two wins, two draws), the Black Cats still have a worse goal differential than Hull City, who could draw level with them on points with a victory over Manchester United on the final day of the season. Here are a few players that Aston Villa could be interested in, provided that Sunderland are relegated.

Costel Pantilimon: The towering Romanian netminder stands in at 2.02 meters, and has kept 10 clean sheets in 27 Premier League appearances this season since taking over for Vito Mannone. Moving to Sunderland from Manchester City on a free transfer last summer, Pantilimon has established himself as a solid keeper. At 28 years old, he will be around for a while.

Patrick van Aanholt: A player that toiled though countless loan spells while under contract at Chelsea, van Aanholt finally got a chance to play in the Premier League this season after being sold to Sunderland last summer. The left back has provided five assists in 26 league appearances for the Black Cats this campaign, and would be an upgrade for Villa.

Jack Rodwell: Manchester City paid Everton £12 million in August of 2012 for Rodwell, but the English midfielder only made 25 appearances for the Citizens in two years. Last summer, Sunderland paid £10 million for him, and he's scored three goals in 21 games this season in the Premier League.

Connor Wickham: With five goals in 34 games this year, Wickham is the club's top scorer. It's not an amazing goal return, but at 22, Wickham is still young. With the future of Andreas Weimann in doubt, Tim Sherwood may be looking to bring in a new striker.

Are there any Sunderland players not on this list that you'd like to see at Aston Villa? Let us know in the comments!
