Who should Aston Villa try to buy from QPR?

When Queens Park Rangers go down, they will have to sell some players. Which of these would be good targets for Aston Villa?

So far in this year's Relegation Poaching series, I've looked at the players Aston Villa should try to poach from Leicester and Burnley. Since I wrote about the Foxes, they've continued a Wigan-esque run of form in an effort to avoid the drop, but the Clarets are as good as down. This week, Queens Park Rangers will be the team I look at.

They're currently second-bottom, and still have Liverpool and Manchester City left on the fixture list. It's looking unlikely that manager Chris Ramsey will be able to navigate the R's to safety, so let's check out their squad and see who could fit in at Villa.

When looking at Rangers' squad, you may be surprised to see them in the league position that they're in. Maybe it's a combination of Harry Redknapp's ineptitude and players looking for a paycheque. Regardless, they're likely to drop despite a wealth of talent. But, maybe there's a reason these guys aren't playing up to their potential. That being said, I found more players on their roster that I'd want to see at Villa than any other team I've looked at so far.

Adel Taraabt: He's had a turbulent QPR career including a loan spell at AC Milan and has only played seven times for the London club this season due to various injuries. Some may want to avoid him due to his history as a troublemaker, but under the right manager Taraabt could make an impact. Plus, he has five star skills on FIFA, the most important measure of a player.

Leroy Fer: Fer returns to the list for the second year in a row, albeit for a different team. I really wanted Villa to sign him from Norwich last year, but he ended up at QPR after Redknapp paid £8 million for him. The Dutchman's managed to score four times and assist four more goals, despite missing eight games due to injury. If Tom Cleverley doesn't come back, Fer would bolster the centre of midfield.

Steven Caulker: Another player on the list for a second time (and team) in two years, Caulker was purchased by QPR from sinking Cardiff City after last season. By far the youngest (and most desirable) of any central defender at QPR, the former Spurs man has been very dependable this season, starting 31 games. The only stumbling block is if Rangers look to recoup much of the £8.5 million they paid for him last summer.

Charlie Austin: The main reason that QPR don't have less than 20 points, Charlie Austin can flat out score goals. He may have missed a penalty against West Ham last weekend, but he's still scored 17 goals in the Premier League this season. He most likely will end up somewhere else though, as plenty of teams out there have more money than Villa and need a striker.
