Aston Villa were the underdogs against Liverpool yesterday, but Tim Sherwood's banged up side managed to go into Wembley and grab an absolutely convincing 2-1 win in the FA Cup Semifinal. The match might very well have been the best that Aston Villa played all season. The attack, led by Christian Benteke, Fabian Delph, and Jack Grealish, looked as potent as it has in ages, and after some early shakiness the defense settled down and managed to prevent Liverpool from adding on.
But you know all this. You're here to relive it, aren't you? You want Benteke's goal on forever and Delph's winner to woo you to sleep tonight. While Vines are all well and good for instantaneous relief, nothing quite beats glorious high definition official video from the FA, so here you go:
I've got two moments I want to highlight. Everyone will be talking about the absolutely fantastic goal from Delph to win it, but the thing that has stuck with me from that play was this:
Christian Benteke is so so much more than just a great striker. Look at that incredible backheel to set up Grealish who would go on to give it to Delph. Benteke knew Grealish was back there, and he knew that no one else was, so he just tapped it back. Incredible.
And then there was this, from a different FA video
Let's just keep watching this until this weekend, eh?
