Nathan Baker ruled out for the rest of the season

Villa are now in a bit of a defensive pickle.

Even on one of Aston Villa's best days in recent memory, we had to get some bad news.

Defender Nathan Baker has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury during Villa's FA Cup semifinal win over Liverpool. Baker had to be subbed off for Jores Okore in the 26th minute of the match.

In addition to the general disappointment and sadness over anyone being hurt, this also leaves Villa in a bit of a pickle. This news comes on the heels of Ciaran Clark also being ruled out for the season after getting injured against Tottenham Hotspur. This leaves Villa with just two fit central defenders: Ron Vlaar and Jores Okore. Considering that those guys haven't exactly been injury free in their Villa careers, this should be fun.

My guess is that someone will be getting recalled from their loan, whether that be a Lewis Kinsella, or hell even a Chris Herd. Maybe Carlos Sanchez can play back there in an emergency, or maybe Tim Sherwood will fulfill his dream and just play ten attacking players. I am also available to play if needed, Mr. Sherwood.
