We're looking for new people to join our editorial staff here at 7500 to Holte. The following positions are open right now. If you'd like to write for us but don't fit one of the available slots, send an email and let us know what you would like to do. It should go without saying that the number one requirement for all of these positions is a passion for Aston Villa.
Additionally, we want to be upfront about compensation. None of these positions are, at least at first, paid positions. And while there is the possibility for advancement, nobody who writes here makes a living off of it. If you're looking to do this for the money, I'm afraid we aren't for you. If you're looking to do it because you love writing and you love Aston Villa: welcome!
News writer
In addition to providing features, opinions, and commentary, 7500 to Holte aims to become the Aston Villa fan's go-to site for all of the latest Aston Villa news. To that end, we are looking to bring aboard some dedicated news writers who are willing to work quickly and accurately to publish the daily goings-on of the club.
Responsibilities: News writers will be responsible for covering daily and breaking news surrounding Aston Villa. This can range from transfer rumours, to injuries, to news of the club's takeover. Writers will need to get a story published promptly and accurately, and should also be able to add their own perspective on the story. We strive to go beyond simply reporting what has happened and let our readers know why it matters.
Qualifications/Requirements: News writers must be comfortable writing quickly and with minimal editorial oversight. They should have a history of writing and a passion for all things Aston Villa. Additionally, they will need to be available with some regularity to write. While we strive to cover Aston Villa every day, every writer need not be available at all times. They should, however, be available when they have said they will be.
Aston Villa Ladies writer
Aston Villa have a women's club in the second division of the FA Women's Super League. They're an exciting bunch of players, but coverage of them is limited. Unfortunately, reporting on them is tough to do without seeing them in person. It is, however, one of this site's highest priorities to cover the team.
Responsibilities: The AVLFC writer would write match reports of the club and any other news surrounding the team. Match reports would need to be on the site within 24 hours of the completion of the match. Additionally, if it can be worked out, they would be responsible for feature coverage of the team.
Qualifications/Requirements: Since AVLFC are not broadcast, we need a writer who attends matches regularly. If you also go to away matches, that's a bonus!
Graphics specialist
We deal mostly in words here. It's what blogs have done since, well, forever. But we'd like to start exploring new ways of telling stories. Infographics and strong graphic design can make compelling stories even better, or they can stand on their own.
Responsibilities: The graphics specialist would contribute images that could be used either in stories or on their own. They would work in concert with our writers to craft images that add to the conversation for our readers.
Qualifications/Requirements: Proficiency in graphic design software.
