Exactly 21 years ago today Aston Villa hoisted the League Cup trophy at Wembley after beating Manchester United 3-1 in the final. It's not the most recent trophy of note that the club have won (that would be the 1996 League Cup final over Leeds United), but it's widely regarded as the best moment the club have had in at least the past 25 years.

After racing out to a 2-0 lead on a 26th minute goal by Dalian Atkinson and a 76th-minute follow-up from Dean Saunders, things got a bit dicey when Sir Alex Ferguson's team got one back in the 83rd minute off of Mark Hughes. Saunders got the chance to seal the victory beyond a doubt when he converted a penalty in the 91st minute.

So let's take a moment and think back on one of the club's highlight moments. Where were you that day? Do you remember watching the match? Were you at Wembley? Let us know in the comments, as we can't wait to read your stories!
