Aston Villa have at least attempted to make a move to bolster their strike force, but of course, in typical Villa style, it has been rejected.
Aston Villa have made an inquiry for Rickie Lambert but Liverpool showing no signs of wanting the forward to leave.

Reports by a number of reputable footie writers suggest that Aston Villa made a formal move for Liverpool's Rickie Lambert a short while ago, only for it to get rejected as Liverpool want to keep the player. Lambert, who scored against Villa last month in the 2-0 victory would fit the same mould as Libor Kozak and Christian Benteke, so it's clear that Lambert #2 (Paul) likes his big target men, if you didn't already know.
This might conflict with earlier reports that Villa had ended their transfer activity but depending on the timing of the rejection, this may be the straw that broke the camel's back.
