Sherwood gets mixed bag in injury report for Stoke match

Tim Sherwood is holding his first Thursday pre-match press conference right now, and we're getting all the normal run of news. The big thing, as always, is the weekly injury report. And it seems that for this weekend's match against Stoke, Sherwood will have plenty of options from which to choose:

Philippe Senderos hasn't been well for ages, so that's hardly a surprise. Nathan Baker is a bit out of the blue, but he was unlikely to be picked anyways. The really good news here is the return to action of Carles Gil.

If Sherwood has Villa playing like they did in the second half against Leicester City (and there's no reason to think he won't), Gil will be a hugely valuable asset. His willingness to take on defenders and create chances will (finally) get the chance to have players in the box as targets.

We'll have previews of the match in the coming days, but for now, who do you think Tim chooses as his starting XI?
