Following this afternoon's sacking of Tim Sherwood, Aston Villa have also announced the departure of three more members of the backroom staff at Bodymoor Heath.
Assistant manager Ray Wilkins, Coach Mark Robson and performance analyst Seamus Brady have been told they are no longer required at Aston Villa.
Wilkins is likely the most surprising of these moves as he came to Aston Villa with a remarkable footballing pedigree following spells at Chelsea and the Jordan National Football Team - that's without mentioning his playing career. Robson and Brady have also been allowed to leave, likely to make room for a new set of staff that will follow the arrival of a new manager.
Aston Villa have also announced that Kevin Macdonald will lead the club whilst the search for a new manager begins. Macdonald is no stranger to this role having managed the club following the resignation of one Martin O'Neill.
