With the loan signing of Scott Sinclair, Aston Villa looked almost ready to close the case on a successful winter transfer window, but all may not be as it seems. Tuttomercatoweb are today reporting that the agent of one Mariano Izco. Mariano seems to fit Aston Villa's 'rejects' transfer plan having only played 3 games for Chievo since joining them last year after a long stint at Catania.

"It's nice - says Piraino - after a career with so many efforts the interest of a club like Aston Villa to Mariano, is the right reward after so many years of playing. The problem is the timing, we will see ..." - Mariano's agent, Daniel Piraino speaking to Tuttomercatoweb

Izco is no goalscorer by any means, but we did say that about Carles Gil, who has been a success so far. If Villa can sign another player capable of moving the ball with a bit of flair, it could be an all round success for the club.

If all that has been said by Izco's agent is true, this could be a great depth move for Villa. If Scott Sinclair fails to impress, Villa might just have the ticket with Mariano Izco. I'll leave you with the dreaded 'highlight video'. Hopefully it translates to on-the-pitch performance if Aston Villa make the move.
