Villa sign another creative player in increasingly good January window

We reported on the signing being done yesterday, but now it's finally official: Aston Villa have nabbed Scott Sinclair from Manchester City on a loan until the end of the season.

#WelcomeScott is what we're going with? I would've thought the marketing department would have gone for #GreatScott. Perhaps too interesting for them. Yesterday James had the presumptive details of the deal, and nothing we've learned this morning is changing what he wrote yesterday.

From a bigger picture view, this is quietly turning into a very successful January transfer window for Paul Lambert. Say what you will about his on-the-pitch management, but he certainly knows how to bring in talent on a tight budget. This move goes well with the signing of Carles Gil and the re-upping of Fabian Delph's contract. When you pair that with the work he did in the summer, it's easy to start thinking that this team could turn the corner any time soon. There's loads of talent here, and it's largely young and cheap. If the final product can ever start producing this is becoming the core of what could be a team that competes for a long time.

Of course, we've said that before, and the final product hasn't been there. But Lambert is recognizing his side's weaknesses and making all the right moves to address them. Sinclair isn't the splashiest signing ever, but he's a smart one. So, I guess, #WelcomeScott!
