Any time a player picks Aston Villa over reported interest from Bayern Munich, it's news.
That's what happened this week as 16-year-old defender Easah Suliman signed a professional contract that will keep him at Villa until the summer of 2018, amid interest from the German giants and Liverpool.
While the name Easah Suliman might not mean much to fans right now, this still has the potential to be a significant move for the Villa youth teams and hopefully the first team eventually.
The teenager, who has been touted as boasting bags of potential, is a Birmingham native who has been capped several times by the England U17 team - even captaining them at one point - and was the only Villa product to feature for the squad last winter at the Nike U17 International Tournament, where he started a draw with Brazil and a victory over Australia.
Suliman will also be a name to look out for as a member of the England U17 team set to play in the European U17 Championships this May in Bulgaria.
Playing as a central defender or left back, Suliman has already featured in the Barclays U18 Premier League and the FA Youth Cup for Aston Villa.
It shouldn't be too long before he works his way into the Villa U21 defensive setup, which needs help having conceded 23 goals in its past nine games overall while losing four of its last five matches in the league.
