After four matches, Aston Villa have three wins and one draw and are one of only three unbeaten teams in the Premier League. Today they get to face off against one of the other unbeatens, an Arsenal squad who seem to be taking a page from last year's West Brom side and collecting ALL the draws in their 1-3-0 record. They're coming off a midweek defeat in Champions League play and are pretty beaten up by injuries. If ever there were a time for Villa to take points from Arsenal, this would be it.
But this being Villa, one can never know. So with that in mind, give Aaron's match preview a read and then settle in and join us here as we talk about the match while it happens. And if you'd like to see how the other side lives, make sure to check out SB Nation's Arsenal blog The Short Fuse. They're some of the best people on the internet, and you won't regret it. Anyhow, here are the lineups. Seems as if Nathan Baker and Ron Vlaar are both injured, so I hope you like Ciaran Clark:
Aston Villa Starting XI
Brad Guzan; Alan Hutton, Ciaran Clark, Philippe Senderos, Aly Cissokho; Caros Sanchez, Tom Cleverley, Ashley Westwood, Fabian Delph, Kieran Richardson; Andi Weimann, Gabby Agbonlahor
Aston Villa bench
Leandro Bacuna, Jores Okore, Shay Given, Charles N'Zogbia, Matthew Lowton, Jack Grealish, Carlos Sanchez, Joe Cole
UPDATE: Ashley Westwood was a late scratch. He, Baker, and Darren Bent are all unavailable because of a stomach bug sweeping through the club. Westwood replaced by Carlos Sanchez, who was replaced on the bench by Joe Cole.
Arsenal Starting XI
Wojciech Szczesny, Calum Chambers, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Kieran Gibbs, Mikel Arteta, Alexis Sánchez, Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla, Mesut Özil, Danny Welbeck
Arsenal bench
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fracis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby, Lukas Podolski, David Ospina, Tomas Rosicky
Up the Villa!
