Callum Robinson, the young Aston Villa striker who saw some senior playing time towards the end of last season, is off on a 32-day loan to League One side Preston North End. He will be immediately eligible for their squad and may play in tonight's match against Chesterfield, where Daniel Johnson is on loan for Aston Villa as well.
The move should have no impact on the senior squad whatsoever, as Robinson hasn't seen the pitch yet this season and it doesn't look like he would anytime soon. Gabby Agbonlahor and Andi Weimann have been holding down the striking roles quite well, and the imminent return of Christian Benteke would have pushed Robinson even further down the depth chart.
I wouldn't be surprised to see this loan extended if it can be, as there is no real reason for Robinson to be around Bodymoor Heath right now when he could be getting playing time for a League One playoff contender instead. Might as well take the experience where it can be had!
