Paul Cook, manager of the League One side, is happy to have the player for the loan spell and thanked Villa for making it happen. Johnson will make his Chesterfield debut tomorrow when the club travel to Leyton Orient for the opening match of the season.
This is a good move for both sides because Johnson was unlikely to get a lot of first team minutes with the senior side and that is exactly what he needs at this point in his career. Paul Lambert and Roy Keane will undoubtedly asses him on his return to Bodymoor Heath in a few months and decide if he should go out on another loan spell somewhere else or train with the team and battle it out for first team minutes.
