Here you can vote for Aston Villa's man of the match in this poll. The solidity of the back line surely helped preserve the clean sheet. Philippe Senderos and Aly Cissokho had good debuts, and Alan Hutton was solid in his return from the bomb squad. Of course captain Ron Vlaar was excellent too. In goal, Brad Guzan didn't have a whole lot to do but made a solid double save. Andi Weimann was the match winner with the game's only goal. The midfield kept it together, with Richardson and N'Zogbia doing well on the wings. For substitutes, Leandro Bacuna was solid and Jack Grealish got some good playing time too. Most importantly, Aston Villa got the 1-0 win over Stoke City (and on the road, too!) and the three points to start the season on a positive note.
