Transfer Talk: New Aston Villa utilityman

Kieran Richardson is capable of playing multiple positions. This is a good thing for Aston Villa.

Cooper Neill

Kieran Richardson is a proven Premier League player, something many Villa fans have been calling for recently during the Lambert years. He has played a lot of left back, most recently for currently-in-the-Championship Fulham FC, but he has played for other Premier League sides as well.

Having played at West Bromwich Albion, Manchester United, Sunderland, Fulham, and now Villa, he is definitely a proven commodity, as his stats show. Over 200 appearances with the occasional goal or assist is what you like to see from a player who can play left back, left wingback, left midfield, or even left winger. His ability to play almost anywhere on the pitch is sure to help manager Paul Lambert avoid more than one selection headache this season.

What formation or position do you think Richardson would be most effectively utilised in? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
