Transfer Talk: Aston Villa's new left back

Learn about Aston Villa's newest left back Aly Cissokho

Brought in to hopefully stop the revolving door of left backs at Aston Villa by manager Paul Lambert, Aly Cissokho has the experience to be the man for the job. Previously at teams such as FC Porto, Olympique Lyon, Valencia CF, and Liverpool, Cissokho has Champions League experience and is hoping to revive his career.

Touted as a player with massive potential in 2009, he was purchased from Porto by Lyon for 16 million Euro. His career has since stalled and moves to Valencia and Liverpool on loan didn't pan out, so Villa secured the services of the Frenchman on a four year deal for a fee of 2.5 million Euro.

Since Antonio Luna has been loaned out, and Joe Bennett hasn't been consistent enough to start, Cissokho should be preferred if Villa use a system with four at the back. He could face Kieran Richardson in competition for that role.
