Aston Villa are a young team. That's how they have been dealing with the issue of saving money on the wage bill to make up for errors in the past in these days of mega money modern football. Their lineup has routinely been the youngest in the Premier League in recent times, and next year the squad may be getting even younger. Two of the Club's top young talents, Gary Gardner and Callum Robinson, have signed new deals, announced today on the official site.
This is great news for Villa fans. After new summer signing Philippe Senderos has looked less than world class in Brazil at the World Cup, two players who are immensely talented yet not finished products could bring some much needed energy to Villa Park this season. Along with Jack Grealish, Samir Carruthers, and Daniel Johnson, we may be starting to see the breakthrough of some of these talented academy players we've been hearing so much about lately.
Hopefully these guys are all given a shot to show what they can do in camp. Remember, some of them were in the NextGen Series squad that beat Chelsea to become U-19 Champions of Europe.
Have you seen any of these guys play? What do you think of their chances to crack the first team? Let us know in the comments!
