When you don't have much money to work with, you've got to build a club in a piecemeal way. And Paul Lambert has now officially added the next piece to his meal (because that's how that idiom works, right?). According to Aston Villa, they have officially completed signing Joe Cole on a free transfer. It's not a move that will light a fire under anyone, but it's another safe, low-risk investment.
Cole is, of course, saying all the right things now that the switch has happened:
Joe Cole: " The fire is still burning in me. I want to do well, play at the highest level and win things still and this club fits." #avfc

That's always good to see. Jack wrote a bit yesterday about what Cole brings to the club and came away with a verdict of "meh." But it's hard to be too upset, just as with Philippe Senderos. It's a move that we will likely see more of this summer, and one that it's hard to be too mad with Lambert about.
Now that it's official, what do you think about Aston Villa being one Joe Cole stronger?
