Former Manchester City defender supposedly interests Villa

Villa are supposedly looking at another center back. That could be bad news for Nathan Baker and Ciaran Clark.

Thanks to a lack of options, Ciaran Clark and Nathan Baker have seen a lot of Premier League playing time in the past two seasons. They aren't bad players, but they probably should be starting center backs. But that already looked set to come to an end with the return of Jores Okore next season and Ron Vlaar holding down his spot. Now the two youngsters may have even more to worry about, as Aston villa are rumoured to be interested in Queens Park Rangers defender Nedum Onuoha

The former Manchester City stalwart is currently involved in QPR's battle for promotion back into the Premier League. They play the first of two legs against Wigan today, but it is believed that if they can't secure the final spot Onuoha would be looking for a move back to the Premiership despite the fact that he has two years remaining on his QPR contract. The 27-year-old primarily plays in central defense, though he has the flexibility to pay anywhere in the back. With QPR he's been used in both a central and right-side role this season.

If Onuoha were brought in, it could spell the end of the line for either Clark or Baker. At that point, while they could provide depth, having both around would probably be surplus. As far as rumours go, though, this one isn't all that crazy. It wouldn't hurt for Villa to add some experienced and good depth to their defense, and Onuoha provides just that.
