Marc Albrighton was officially told earlier this week that his contract with Aston Villa would not be renewed this summer. That news was apparently all that was needed for Leicester City to seal a new four-year deal with the 24-year-old winger.

We've known that this was coming for a while, even before Villa officially released him, but the announcement is still bittersweet. Albrighton has spent his entire professional and youth career with Aston Villa, joining the club when he was only eight years old. Albrighton had nothing but nice things to say about his former club: “It was a great 16 years for me at Villa and I had some really wonderful times there that will stay with me forever. I’m coming away now with my head held high and really looking forward to this fresh challenge with Leicester."
I can say with confidence that every Villa fan wishes him the best of luck. Hopefully he gets the chance to play regular football and develop into a Premier League-caliber player like many of us always thought he would.
