Aston Villa vs. Sunderland confirmed lineups and open thread

It's the second match in 48 hours for Aston Villa, as they get ready to take on a Sunderland team who can only look up and envy Villa's 13th spot in the table from their 14th. The loss against Swansea hurt, but there were some positives to be had, including the most successfully completed passes of any Premier League team on Boxing Day. If they can take that possession and crispness in passing and extend it to create good chances, this is a match that they should be able to win. And if they did win, there's an outside chance they could be in the top half of the table.

With that little prelude, here are the lineups for today's match. Below that you can join us in the comments for our open thread. In the time between now and when the match starts, though, be sure to check out Aaron's preview.
