Change the tactics to beat West Brom

"You don't change a winning team" is how the saying goes. However, Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert should think again.

West Bromwich Albion's last win came over Leicester City. So did Aston Villa's. Weird. Villa's was last week, while Albion's came on November first.

The Baggies have scored just one goal in that stretch of five matches, and while their midlands rivals haven't scored a great amount of goals in their most recent games, they have seen an increase. This is in part to the return of Christian Benteke, but even Joe Cole managed to chip in with a goal a couple weeks back.

Obviously for Paul Lambert's side to have not lost in five the defence has had to be at its best. Ciaran Clark and Jores Okore, despite starting the season as fourth and fifth choice centre backs, have been a great pairing for the past couple matches. That should stay the same, even if Ron Vlaar is deemed fit enough to make the eighteen. Alan Hutton and Aly Cissokho have been solid defenders and competent attackers. Hutton's goal last week was impressive and Cissokho continues to attempt crosses, even if he doesn't complete them very often, it's a better strategy now with Benteke back in the team.

The midfield is going to be awkward, as Ashley Westwood has been ruled out until January thanks to Jamie Vardy Fabian Delph passed his fitness test and should be instantly slotted into the lineup. I say it every week in the Holtecast, but Carlos Sánchez continues to improve and has justified his starting spot. Robert always has a message too; Play Grealish!

Starting Jack Grealish could mean that Gabby Agbonlahor goes to the bench, and that's ok with most Villa fans it feels like. Andi Weimann has done alright and will probably start. That means we could see Charles N'Zogbia or even Callum Robinson off the bench!

I'd go 4<4>2 with

Guzan; Hutton, Okore, Clark, Cissokho; Sanchez, Cleverley, Delph, Grealish; Weimann, Benteke.
