Against West Ham, Aston Villa defended pretty well as a team again. We always knew Villa would be unlikely to score goals without Christian Benteke in the side, but if you can keep a clean sheet, you can get a point, right?
Having Ron Vlaar back in the side has been massive, and it's apparent that he has a good influence on Nathan Baker. Baker had a pretty good day, as fortunately Harry Kane didn't have a free kick right at the end of the match. Unfortunately, that was because he got hurt five minutes from time and had to be carried off.
The whole team defended well, as you might expect when West Ham have nearly 60 percent of the ball and the match ends scoreless.
Brad Guzan was also solid in goal. West Ham had more than a few dangerous attacks, and he was a big part of the reason they were kept scoreless. The Irons had three shots right just before full time, but fortunately they were right at Guzan and he was able to deal with the attempts rather easily.
