Villa eyeing Olsson as Vlaar replacement should Manchester United make move

Aston Villa are reportedly considering a move for West Bromwich Albion's Jonas Olsson should Manchester United make a move for Ron Vlaar.

Ron Vlaar. He's staying! He's going! He's staying! His agent says he's ready for a big move! God only knows what's happening there. The rumours of a move to Manchester United for the Villa captain persist despite the Dutch defender's inability to stay healthy. And, as they have been for a while, those rumours are sensical enough to have we Villa fans worried.

But fear not, because Paul Lambert has a replacement in mind. And that replacement comes from... West Brom. Well, West Brom's bench, specifically. Numerous reports popped up this weekend that Lambert wants to replace Vlaar with Albion's Jonas Olsson. The towering Swedish centre back has had trouble finding playing time since the Baggies brought in Joleon Lescott over the summer, and would reportedly be amenable to a move to Villa.

And while Olsson doesn't inspire joy, he's a solid, workable centre back who could provide enough depth to keep Ciaran Clark out of the "next off the bench" spot. And doing that is a service in its own right. But would you be happy to see Olsson make the shift to Villa?
